  • What kind of personal data does Whydonate collect?

We only process and collect personal data that is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed:

If you are a donor, we collect the following personal data:

  • Personal identification: (name);

We use your name to correctly address you and show the fund who donated (unless the donor is anonymous)

  • Contact information (e-mail address);

This data is used to send you service e-mails.

  • Payment information (IBAN);

So we can debit the donations from and transfer them to the correct IBAN.

  • Electronic identification information and technical information (IP address and location).
    We collect this data to prevent fraud and get insight in the location of the donator.

If you initiate a fundraising, we collect the following personal data:

  • Personal identification: (name, login details);

We use your name to correctly address you and show other users who you are. Your password is saved in an encrypted way so only you can access it; not us and not someone else.

  • Contact information (e-mail address);

This data is used to identify you, when you login and to send you service e-mails. In addition, you can sign up for the regular email update. This means we occasionally send you an update with the most interesting developments and projects on the platform. Of course, you can use your account to unsubscribe for these at any time.

  • Payment information (IBAN);

So we can debit the donations from and transfer them to the correct IBAN.

  • Electronic identification information and technical information (IP address and location).
    We collect this data to prevent fraud and get insight in the location of the donator.
  • Profile info;

You can add more information about yourself and the charity on your profile so other users can see who you are and what the cause is. That makes it easier for us to link donators and causes.

You decide what information from your profile is visible for other users. So, if you do not want to share your personal information with other users, you don’t have to. We want to be sure that you are happy with the entire experience on our platform, so if you want to keep your identity as a supporter/donor hidden, we make this possible. This means you can make an anonymous donation. In that case, there is no name attributed to your donation.
